Public Transport in Brisbane – How to Get Around

Welcome to Brisbane! Think of this as one of Australia’s versions of Florida, where even in the winter, you’ll find it pretty warm most of the time. Is this your first time in the Sunshine State? Not a problem, stick with this article, and I’ll tell you all the ways you can get moving, and see the most this place has to offer.

First up, as with Melbourne and Adelaide these days, you need to purchase a public transport card, to touch on and off. Well… I say you need to, but you can just purchase one off paper tickets, that are 30% more expensive. Up to you!

Now, when you do get the card/ticket, be sure to get the Go Seeq card as well. This one is especially for tourists and is valid for either 3 or 5 days (3 days for $79, 5 days for $129). This lets you travel on the trains, busses, trams and even ferries, (which are apparently part of the Public Transport system in South East Queensland), as many times as you like over the 3-5 days. Just remember, the countdown clock begins the first time you tap on, so be sure to take full advantage of it.

Now, the normal Go Card that you’ll get, it’s valid for travel in Brisbane, the Sunshine Coast, and the Gold Coast, so you don’t need to buy a seperate card if you want to visit those places.

So, there you have it, Buses, Trains, Trams and Ferries are the 4 main public transport services in Brisbane. Have a good time getting around!
